DEATH…What makes it so difficult to talk about?

There are very few things that we know will happen to 100% of all human lives. DEATH is one of them…just as we are all born we will all die.

So if death is a guaranteed part of life, what makes death so difficult to talk about?

The very nature of death, the mystery that surrounds it, breeds uncertainty. Uncertainty breeds fear. Fear of our own mortality, fear of what will not accomplish, fear of making others feel uncomfortable, fear that your wishes will anger your loved ones.

Death is ordinary. There’s nothing spooky about it. It’s not weird. It’s not unnatural. But most of us avoid talking about it with our loved ones, as if it will not happen if we do not talk about it.

Talking about death will allow us to make decisions that are reflective of our beliefs and values about life and death. Our loved ones will understand what we want for our end of life healthcare, the handling of our estate and the kind of Funeral and final disposition we desire. It also helps the loved ones that are left to make these decisions, they can be assured that the decisions they are making is what you would want.

Have the Talk.

My goal is to contribute to Communities having a Good Experience in Death.
